Hello Darling!

 

I'm Audrey Harris, floral designer, consultant and many other wonderful things- and you are here to discover how I got my start in the industry.

It was literally a dark and stormy night in 2013 when I stumbled upon a new floral design studio in my home town while on a hiatus from New York (read: home for the holidays and looking for temp work), though I had never done any real floral design before, I just knew that my years in visual merchandising combined with my fashion degree could land me a job as a top floral designer <crickets chirping> it landed me a job alright, a job washing buckets, sweeping floors, opening and closing the studio and making sure all the ribbons were put back in place neatly and in order!  However, though you might think it, this is not a horror story, but a grateful story, in time I moved up from buckets and on to wedding deliveries, then office management and then finally design, and I discovered that there is no better way to learn how to treat a business and learn a craft than by starting from the ground up - it gives you an appreciation for your work that you may not have found by traveling an easier route.  In 2016 I decided to venture out on my own and became a freelancer, helping clients actualize and execute beautiful design and produce fabulous events. 

 

It gives me such great pleasure to assist my clients, giving them an opportunity for a  little more time to breath, focus and bounce around ideas!  I offer each client their own customized support, ensuring a smooth and exciting design process - my motto is "my business is your business".

 

I love romantic garden style design, making new friends and the occasional matcha green tea latte with almond milk, and I blissfully welcome new opportunities in Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland, New York and beyond.
